Get Ready, Get Set, Go!!!

Planning for events, that’s the topic. If you  can get ready for something in good time, you’ll avoid rush charges and additional shipping costs. Additionally, you’ll give yourself time to explore different options and ideas. From a promotional perspective, you’ll give your promotional products supplier the opportunity to search for special offers.  Of course, you’ll save yourself a lot of stress!

For those of you in Northern California who’ll be exhibiting at the Home & Garden Show on 26-28 March at the Fairgrounds in Anderson or at the Redding Spring Home & Garden Show on 24 and 25 April at the Convention Center, it’s not too early for you to be planning your event.  Save yourself some stress. GET READY, GET SET & GO!

Technology Challenged!

2010
01.28

last week my business partner, Bonnie, and I woke up to the fact that we’re falling behind on the technology front.  Shameful, really, since our background stems from over 15 years each in the Semiconductor Industry in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Silcon Valley.

How did we wake up?  Well, we attended a promotional products tradeshow (PPAI) and attended some educational classes. Was that an eye opener!  Not only was Las Vegas with its theme casinos rather overwhelming, but the trade show and conference itself reminded us of our semiconductor days (but then we were an exhibitor, not attendees).

I think I attribute our technological relapse to “Mountain Living” – that state we’re now in having moved to Northern California and built a log home in a rural community just 17 miles outside of Lassen Volcanic National Park.  Of course, owning your own business and having a home office has its advantages.  Still…one needs to keep up with the times & use the latest and greatest tools of the trade.

So, here we are on the road to social networking, trying to do the right thing and learning as we go.  I hope we can contribute enough to help people in some small way and also learn from the people we communicate with. Web 2.0 here we come!

Business Networking International (BNI)

6am on Tuesday morning. Time to leave for our weekly BNI meeting. This week was a challenge because I woke up with a migraine. Bonnie, my business partner, was amazed I made it through the 1 1/2 hour meeting and back up the hill to the office without a problem (I was really nauseus).

But….that’s not the reason I’m writing this. BNI has been a breath of fresh air for Logarrow marketing, our promotional products business. It is a very powerful word of mouth marketing organization and we want to than Bob Ferrari from Flue Season (our chimney sweep and a very good and highly qualified one at that) for being persistent with us until we joined.  He knew the benefits that BNI could offer us, even though we didn’t. Branding – A Hot Iron or What?

Branding – traditionally used to mark cattle to identify the owners.  What does it mean for your business?  It is the image you present to the outside world.  It starts with your business name and logo and how you promote this image to your potential customers.  It includes anything and everything you put your logo on, be it shirts, bags, coffee mugs, pens, business cards and brochures.  It also includes your “tagline” – how you present your message and the mediums you use to do so.

Branding, a hot iron or what!
